Yayyyyy! (clap,clap,clap,clap)
Well, it has been an exciting day. We got off to a slow start since the taxi was late. Once we got to Thu Duc (Picasso) we had to wait a little longer. Then, off in the distance, we heard a strange squeaking sound, that got louder and louder. Around the corner came the cutest (I base that on empirical data, not just biased opinion) little girl in the world.
We got to feed her and she really seemed to like the rattley pink elephant. The feeding was tricky only because Rich had some issues with the bottle/spoon. It kept over-filling the spoon, and made a mess. Luckily the food and Rich’s pants were the same color of green.
We got to play stacking cups for a while. Every time she got one stacked, Hien would clap and yell “Yayyyy”. Rich, Robin, and the Bich (pronounced “Bik”) would yell too. That game took over for a while. Then we walked around for some time and just held on to Hien. Smitten.
All too soon, it was time to go back. We took a cab with Bich to the Ben Tranh Market. That was a great experience. It was good to have Bich with since it kept us from overpaying for a few souvenirs.
The Market is like the Reading Terminal, the Q-Mart, and any flea market you have ever seen rolled into one ancient building, and then compressed.
Later we wandered back to our room. The trick to crossing the road (no yield to pedestrians here) is to walk at a firm pace, and not walk in front of anything less than 5 feet away. Use peripheral vision and don’t worry about the breeze of vehicles passing inches away. That means they missed.
We relaxed in the room a while, then met with Leonnette, Hang (pron. Hong) and Thuy (pron. Twee) from PSBI. It was good to meet Hang especially after all she did to help get us on the road.
After the meeting, Robin decided to check her paperwork. Well, the laptop certainly paid for itself. We were missing a pretty big document. We used Skype to call PSBI, and Freida was able to scan and email the doc in 10 minutes.
Well, that is about it. Blogger is giving a hard time posting, so I'll try again with pix soon.
